Straight from HGTV's Before and After!

Sorry we have no "before" pictures.
Linda maybe you have some we could add!

A Fun Evening at Sunset Paradise!

Linda was in town the other day to help Vanessa move back for her next semester of college. Linda called me to say she was putting furniture together she had purchased from Old World Mkt. (great sale) for Sunset Paradise and that if I found myself bored, then I could venture out to Duson to visit and possibly assist her with the remainder………well you know me, can’t turn down an invitation to delegate to someone how to do something…………….HA!!!!

Anyway, Linda had already put some pieces together, but still had a few left……….not a problem for me. But, she failed to tell me in the beginning that a HEAVY piece was still lodged in the Hummer……..wonderful………..I figure Vanessa and Linda just couldn’t handle it, but darkness set in and without light, they couldn’t see what they were doing.

So, Vanessa is at school and Linda and I attempt to remove the HEAVY piece from the vehicle……….where is someone with a video camera when you need one? Thank goodness no one was around……….much butt showing trying to shove/pull that DAMN piece out of the vehicle………well with much pushing we finally got it out and looked like two orientals taking tiny baby steps to move the buffet piece from the car ALL THE WAY to the inside dining room………….used the few muscles I had left……….remember to never make someone laugh while moving furniture……they loose strength and pee in their pants at the same time………..now how pretty is that?

Anyway, we finally finished and placed the furniture accordingly. I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful the place looks and especially with the new furnishings. Moving from the outside of the old house to the inside of being gutted and redone is quite a difference.

While building furniture, she discussed having a get together with the TR girls the following weekend and asked that I send out an email since she had Marco and Heather at her house this weekend and would be busy with them.

So, Linda and Jaime are planning on coming the weekend of Jan. 26th. She is not sure if Jaime will be leaving the Sunday afternoon or staying until Monday. The date below is tentative until we hear from Linda later during the week as to when Jaime will be exiting Duson to return to NO.

SAVE THE DATE Sunday, January 28th

TIME late afternoon

LOCATION Sunset Paradise

More details to follow.

Marlene, Gloria, JoAnn…………………in the event we can meet, we will be thinking about the three of you……………….unless for some reason any of you could make it.

Love to all,
Jennifer

A warm hello to all.....a belated Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Congratulations!! It has been a buzzin' buzzzy time for me . . . .I've been out of the cyber circle of things . . .I've been missing all of you.......

Many thanks to you Jennifer for sending this save-the-date message.....& for coming to my rescue when I needed help with the furniture. Whew!! That was a big job!

Girlfriends, Jennifer is STRONG & brilliant!! It took 3 people to load the furniture into the Hummer but with Jenn's help it took only the two of us to remove it. . . .go figure! As I tightened all those bolts & screws with all my might, she would come after me & tighten them even more. . . .no wonder the things I build alone come apart rather quickly! Besides that, while I struggled with directions, line for line & number for number, she assembled things in her own way & got the job done just the same & in a better way. . . .what do those Chinese know about English! Once this was all well & done, Jenn put her decorated talents to work arranging the furniture & things in an awesome way. . . .she has that "Midas" touch!!

We then delighted in our achievements over cookies & juice (saving the TR to share with you) & decided it was NOW time to invite all of you over to join in hospitality & fellowship at the all New Sunset Paradise! We have had fun working on this project & although it isn't totally complete, it is ready & waiting for you!

It is time for a TR FIX! A bottle of Tequila Rose is a chillin'!

With Rita & Katrina behind us, it is time to start a new year for all of us! Long live the TR Sistahs!!!

Save-the-date......if you please!
Please, let us know if we can expect you....
More on this later this week.

Thanks & love to all,
linda b.

PS: GO Saints, Go!.....with fingers, toes & eyes crossed, I am not going to miss today's game!!!!

Wish I could join all of you, but absolutely nothing could coax me away from enjoying all of this ice and snow and sleet and just plain old nasty weather!!Drink one for me!!
Marlene

Can't make it this time :( :(
But I so need a TR get together..Somebody do a shot for me..
Donna, I'll be praying for you..One can never be to spirit filled..
Jo Ann

I will be returning that afternoon from a weekend spiritual retreat, so I should be able to make it. But then, I may be so "filled with the spirit" that you won't be able to stand me (or I ya'll) :)

STM's Tim Leger heads to McNeese!

It can be hard to leave your hometown and still feel at home.
But that's exactly how St. Thomas More's Tim Leger and his family are experiencing now that he's accepted an offer to be the quarterbacks coach the McNeese State in Lake Charles.

Leger will officially began at McNeese on Feb. 1. Mike Lemoine will take over Leger's position as STM's head baseball coach, while football coach Jim Hightower said the Cougars will hope to fill Leger's offensive coordinator spot by that Feb. 1 date.
"Lake Charles is like a second home to us,'' Leger said. "Our plan all along was to wait until my son graduated from high school and then start applying for college jobs, going wherever that would take us. This allows us to start that process early while avoiding some of the difficulties that comes with moving around.''
Leger and his wife, Ashley, previously lived in Lake Charles while Leger played quarterback at McNeese State from 1995-98. Leger graduated from Acadiana High in 1992 and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the fourth round. He finished up his professional career in 1995 and began playing football.
His son, Gunner, is in the fifth grade.
"He's played baseball with a lot of the kids from the Lake Charles area growing up,'' Leger said. "He likes coach (Glenn) Cecchini at Barbe, and has a lot of ties in that area, so he's excited about it as well.''
Leger will be working for former Jennings High coach Matt Viator, who is now the full-time head football coach at McNeese.
"I'm excited about working with coach Viator,'' Leger said. "I think a lot of him. He's had success at all levels. He's a great leader. They're about to put $12 million into improving the athletic facilities there.
"We're going to win games. Even with all the turnover in the program had this past season (coach leaving at midseason), they still won the conference championship.''
In addition to his coaching duties, Leger will be in charge of recruiting the high schools from Iowa to Cecilia and from the Opelousas area down to Morgan City.
"I even get to come home to recruit,'' Leger said. "That's great for me.''
As usual, the toughest part in making such decisions is leaving the high school.
"Coach Hightower has been unbelieveable to work for,'' Leger said. "He gave me a lot of freedom. He's as good a guy as you could ask to work for. The kids here are great to coach. I've had a great relationship with them."

Congratulations Donna and Tim!
